Professional Biography:

Pearl K. Ford Dowe is Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Arkansas. She is also affiliated with the African and African American Studies Program. Dr. Dowe Journal of Black Studies and Presidential Studies Quarterly. Dowe African Americans in Georgia: A Reflection of Politics and Policy in the New South which provides a comprehensive study of the impact of structural and historic racism on the implementation of public policy and political climate in the state of Georgia. Dowe has forthcoming chapters in the books Unlocking V. O. Key, Jr., edited by Angie Maxwell and Todd Shields and in Stephen K. MedvicNew Directions and Campaigns. A native of Savannah, Georgia, she earned a B.A. in political science from Savannah State College and the Ph.D. in Political Science from Howard University.
